“Over the last year, I’ve been able to explore what it means to have a ’sound’ as a DJ while on my own little fantasy island, Siqodelico, a monthly residency at San Francisco’s Mothership bar. That’s where I began to trace a shoreline of tropical and romantic nostalgia with 60s and 70s Peruvian tunes on vinyl. Just recently, a fun new challenge has emerged: Peru surf. While none of the artists in my collection exclusively play surf and many of the songs are fusions of multiple genres, a thread of melodic electric guitar, pedal effects, crooning, and shouting has brought this new focus together. I hope you can sink your feet in the sand and watch the waves this summer to the sounds of Peru Surf: go-go, garage, fuzz, chicha/cumbia, boogaloo, and wah wah… Peru Surf is ???% surf, 100% Peruvian.”

Lizzy al Toque (she/her/hers) is a Peruvian American DJ based in the Bay Area. She digs in Peru’s hidden record shops and works hard to bring her audiences something they haven’t heard. Collecting and playing vinyl since 2011, Lizzy al Toque’s sound is a tropical blend of chicha, electronic, cumbia sonidera, and 60s & 70s Latin psych and surf rock. Her love of filling spaces with music does not discriminate, you'll find Lizzy spinning places big and small in San Francisco and Oakland both on her own and with Chulita Vinyl Club.
