“What inspired me to make this mix is my upbringing in South Bay San Diego. Being raised in Chula Vista and National City introduced me to many different musical genres and experiences. My family introduced me to oldies and alternative music at a young age and I remember being fascinated by both. As I got older, I started attending car cruises, oldies nights and punk rock shows. It was then I began noticing the connection between being POC and being involved with soul and punk music scenes. This mix is dedicated to all the rockerx soulerx I have crossed paths with through record collecting and live shows. ”

Gina Rosas (she/her) is 32 years old and resides in Chula Vista, CA, born and raised in San Diego, Califas (1904). She is a daughter and older sister, as well as a social worker and local DJ. She has a bachelor's degree in Sociology from SDSU and aspires to be a DIY subculture historian and photographer. She enjoys collecting soul, hip-hop, and punk and joined Chulita Vinyl Club in 2016.
