“On the anniversary of the coup in Chile, this mix is in remembrance of all of the people who lost their lives, were tortured, disappeared, or exiled during the military regime. I especially dedicate it to Cosme Noriega, my friend Natasha’s dad; who after being tortured, and surviving, was forced into exile. This mix was made thinking of all of the people in the Americas who have, and continue to fight for a just world, and to remind us that the United States government’s foreign policy is guilty for a lot of the atrocities in our native countries.”

DJ Yuri aka, Yuriana Velasco, was born in Oaxaca, raised in Westminster, CA, and currently living in Santa Ana. She is a high school teacher, daughter, tía, jaranera, music lover, and world traveler. Her first set of records came from Oaxaca, part of her dad's collection. She continues to learn and develop her skills on the turntables and hopes to continue sharing the records she has collected through her travels.
